The Myth of Overnight Success

A Buttery Shelf-First Rebrand And Packaging Story.

Brace for some grind hustle mindset shit. Sometimes you need the tough love of beating yourself to a pulp with motivational spew, today is that day.

I set a goal at the end of 2024 to write a newsletter every week for a year. 52 weeks, 52 emails. Some would be great, some would be awful, the point was consistency.

I have failed that specific goal twice since then, but I am still 14 weeks in, and 85% consistent, which is much more than I was before. Building that muscle is all that’s important to me.

Up until recently, I’ve been very shortsighted in my pursuits. If it didn’t have near instant results, it didn’t work. Pushing through the gap between starting something new, and getting any real feedback is always the hardest. It’s why you only need to record 21 podcasts to be in the top 1% of podcasters in the world. It’s why the most successful people you know probably don’t think all that much, they just do. It’s also why we have art.

The people who are genuinely overflowing with ideas and inspiration? They need to have that creative output, regardless of if anyone ever hears/views/interacts with their art. It’s a compulsion.

It’s that silent gap where seemingly “natural gifts” & “overnight successes” are built.

There are very few genuine overnight successes. There are, however, thousands of bedroom dwelling geniuses that will one day be explained that way.

“Natural talent.”

Sit in the silence. Do it for you. Go crazy over the details, because that’s what gets you up in the morning.

You have to be obsessed first.
